Emergency ECG and Pharmacology
Target Audience:
Designed for all healthcare professionals whose responsibilities require them to recognise and interpret life-threatening cardiac rhythms and to provide initial emergency care and appropriate pharmacological interventions.
Module 1 — Emergency Electrocardiography:
- Foundational cardiac anatomy and electrophysiology
- Systematic recognition and emergency management of bradycardias and tachycardias
- Supraventricular and ventricular arrhythmias
- Atrioventricular blocks, pacing, and synchronised cardioversion
- Comprehensive 12-lead ECG interpretation including acute coronary syndromes and electrolyte disturbances
Module 2 — Clinical and Applied Pharmacology:
- Vasopressors and anti-arrhythmic agents
- Rate control agents and reperfusion therapies
- Integration with evidence-based algorithms
Assessment and Preparation:
A pre-course text is supplied for preparation prior to attending the Course.
Certificate: Academy of Advanced Life Support Certificate and HPCSA-approved CPD certificate
